Costa Rica squad for the 2022 World Cup.
Costa Rica have been drawn in Group E, which many consider the toughest of the tournament. Spain, Germany and Japan await Oviedo and Costa Rica.
Oviedo and Costa Rica begin their World Cup campaign against Spain on Wednesday, November 3. It is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. They are preparing for the match against Japan on Sunday, November 27. The series starts at 3 p.m. Costa Rica will play Germany on Thursday, December 1 at noon.
To qualify for the playoffs, Costa Rica will likely need to force a draw against either Spain or Germany and beat Japan. It’s a difficult task.
Rodolfo Villalobos, president of the union’s executive committee, said at a press conference:
“It took a lot to get on the list, because only 26 are eligible. We evaluate a lot of things, for example, what we need for each game, or everyone’s current situation… I see the ability, the commitment, the character in each of them to meet such a large demand.
“I see that this group is focused, I also see continuous development from the beginning, in addition to professionalism, commitment to the country, intelligence and leadership. And I could spend a lot more time talking about the qualities that made me love this group of players,” Suarez added.
