The win saw Arsenal return to the top of the table and make it three consecutive league wins against Chelsea for the first time since the 1970s.

There were three changes from the team that beat Dinamo Zagreb in midweek as Marc Cucurella, Thiago Silva and Ruben Loftus-Cheek returned to the starting eleven, the latter joining Jorginho in the middle of midfield.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang led the line against his former club, supported by Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz, while Cesar Azpilicueta captained the side in his 334th Premier League appearance to become our clear third-best look designer in the competition. .

Arsenal, meanwhile, named a familiar formation with just one change from last weekend’s big win over Nottingham Forest, with Oleksandr Zinchenko returning at left-back.

It was a hot start from the visitors, Ben White was our first two strikers in the goal – the first was on fire, the second was left behind.

Gabriel Martinelli was the next to score from the edge of the penalty area. Gabriel Jesus burst into the box, beating two defenders, but Thiago Silva slid in and made the block.

Our best move of the half gave Jesus a chance. However, he was unable to stretch himself enough to get his head on the end of a Martinelli cross. He beat the trap to find space, but perhaps stopped the run at the crucial moment.

It all started outside Arsenal’s own penalty area with some great safe play at the back to create space and force an opening.

It was a very positive first 45 minutes, but Arsenal couldn’t test Edouard Mendy and the end product was missing.

The second half started quite rough, the wet pitch probably contributed to the bumpy gameplay.Partey took the lead with some clever short corners and Arsenal took the lead from the ensuing flag kick.Jesus won the corner, collected the ball from Loftus-Cheek and then shot Mendy at the near post.Saka took a corner kick that eluded everyone before Gabriel snuck in and scored practically on the goal line.

Jesus, who may be aimlessly nine years old now, has put on another great show here. He created a wonderful situation for Odegaard after running through midfield. The captain controlled with his left foot but shot wide when Martinelli might have been in a better position.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, who missed nine games with a calf injury, returned to the squad and was replaced by Kieran Tierney for the final.
