Australia announced squad for the World Cup.
Australian head coach Graham Arnold has named his 26-man squad to represent Australia at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Goalkeeper Mathew Ryan will captain the squad for the third FIFA World Cup, while Mathew Leckie is another player in the squad that will represent Australia at the FIFA World Cup for the third time.
This year’s tournament will be the second FIFA World Cup for Aziz Behich, Milos Degenek, Jackson Irvine, Jamie MacLaren, Aaron Mooy and Bailey Wright, seventeen players will be taking part in the FIFA World Cup for the first time .
Head coach Graham Arnold said, we headed to Qatar with pride and conviction after four difficult years.
“It has been a unique and challenging qualifying campaign and we come to Qatar with an exciting team that will do everything they can to make Australia proud on the world stage,” said Arnold.
Qualified for a fifth consecutive FIFA World Cup after their sixth appearance overall, the Socceroos are looking to emerge from the group stage for the first time since 2006.
The Socceroos begin their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ campaign against defending champions France at Al Janoub Stadium on Tuesday 22 November.
